Exercise has become overcomplicated, over-marketed, and often misunderstood. Here are 10 honest truths that cut through the noise.

1. There are no “best” exercises

There are no best exercises. Avoid the so-called experts on Instagram and social media who create myths around “optimal” movements. The best exercise is the exercise that gets done. Let’s not over-engineer things with endless optimisation.

2. There are no dangerous exercises

There are no inherently dangerous exercises. It’s the application of sets, reps, volume, intensity, and frequency that matters.

The risk comes from how exercise is used, not the movement itself.

3. Exercise is NOT punishment

Exercise is not punishment. So try to be thankful for what your body can do. Many would love to move more but can’t due to time or life demands. Exercise is a gift—so celebrate it.

4. You don’t need to be pain-free to exercise

You don’t need to be completely pain-free to exercise. Movement can be uncomfortable at times but still beneficial. Embrace the “safe but slightly sore” approach. Stop chasing perfection—start today. There’s no reason to wait.

5. Consistency trumps perfection

Consistency and frequency of training matter more than perfection. There is no perfect training plan—only the exercise that actually gets done. Technique has a place, but it shouldn’t stop you from simply moving.

6. Technique is quite possibly not your main issue

Technique is not a magic bullet for successful optimal goal obtainment, likewise it inst likely to be the cause of your particular injury issue. Greater focus should be placed on volume, intensity, duration, and recovery appications.

7. Exercise alone can’t compensate for a poor lifestyle

Exercise alone cannot fix a poor lifestyle. For example: less than 5 hours of sleep a night or frequent heavy drinking will undermine progress. Recovery and habits matter just as much as training.

8. Strength is never a weakness

Strength is never a weakness. Lift more (progressively and realistically). You can’t go wrong by staying strong.Your body will thank you now and for years to come.

9. Cardiovascular exercise does NOT kill strength gains

Cardio does not kill your strength or fitness gains. Running more is one of the most efficient ways to improve running fitness—but it won’t destroy your strength. Fitness is specific to what you train.

10. Discipline trumps motivation

Discipline beats motivation every time. Show up even when you don’t feel like it—because discipline builds strength, consistency, and results over time.If you wait for motivation, you’ll miss the days that actually make the difference.
